At the Seoul Mobility Show in South Korea, Hyundai Motor unveiled its all-new NEXO fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) at its global launch event. The launch showcases the significance of hydrogen-fuel-powered mobility.
The all-new NEXO offers enhanced safety, flexibility, and efficiency, making it an ideal option for early adopters of FCEV. With its cutting-edge fuel cell technology, NEXO ensures zero tailpipe emissions. Hyundai is expecting over 700 km of range on a five-minute charge while also ensuring a special focus on keeping the vehicles safe to drive during its development phase.
With the launch of NEXO, which is backed by Hyundai's latest safety features and premium build quality, the automaker aims to receive a top-tier safety rating for this vehicle.
The second generation of NEXO highlights the Korean automaker's expertise in hydrogen fuel-powered vehicles and 27 years of fuel cell technology experience. The newly launched model also showcases the brand's commitment to supporting global sustainability initiatives with its diversified vehicle electrification strategy, which focuses on developing new generation battery electric vehicles and hybrids and FCEVs for an extended range of portfolios.
The automaker has used Art of Steel exterior design language for a distinctive and premium appearance while maintaining superior interior comfort, making it one of the competitive models in the mid-size SUV segment. The interior of the second-generation NEXO features a spacious cabin area with several comfort features like first-row relaxation seats and an extended luggage capacity of up to 993 liters.
Hyundai NEXO's second-generation mid-size SUV will be offered in six different color options: Creamy White Pearl, Phantom Black Pearl, Amazon Gray Metallic, Ocean Indigo Matte, Ecotronic Gray Pearl, and Goyo Copper Pearl.
Under the hood, it receives a new motor system that complements the enhancements, strengthening the PE system's power and battery capabilities. With these new enhancements, the total power output of the new NEXO is said to be 135kW to 190kW, and the battery power doubled from 40kW to 80kW. The Hyundai NEXO can now sprint 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds from 9.2 seconds in previous versions.
