General Motors Middle East has partnered with SANID, one of Emirates Foundation’s major programs, to provide electric vehicle awareness training, aiming to increase EV adoptions and set up a strong foundation for sustainable mobility solutions.

During the first session, the discussion begins with the GMC Hummer EV as one of the prominent EVs on the road and the enhanced capabilities of first aiders and first responder volunteers with the help of electric mobility options. The workshop focused on adopting EV first responder’s training that GM offered to civil defense emergency first responders as an additional specified EV awareness campaign to enhance their emergency response time and efficiency.
Participants in this training program engaged in theoretical aspects and benefited from practical sessions covering best practices for using EVs in emergencies, determining high voltage systems, and exploring emergency response procedures. For the practical session, GM enabled participants to apply their understanding firsthand with its GMC Hummer EV.
With this collaboration, GM showcased its focus on caring for the community and enabling collective safety and sustainability goals and handled key challenges for better outcomes. While SANID-certified volunteers and trainers offered first aid training and support across the UAE, GM’s training experts have empowered SANID’s trainers with added EV safety know-how.
This program helped participants develop critical skills, including disaster preparedness, fire handling, medical response operations, search and rescue, and emergency leadership.
Mohamed Al Hosani, the Director of Programs at Emirates Foundation, emphasized that safety and sustainability are the primary principles guiding their operations. He added that the collaboration with General Motors Middle East is focused on equipping volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge for effective emergency response.
As part of their SANID program, he stated their commitment to train first-response teams on the latest developments related to electric vehicles, which is crucial in fostering a safer and more sustainable community.
Sajed Sbeih, the Director of Customer Care & Aftersales at GM Africa & Middle East, emphasized that safety is fundamental to GM’s mission. He said that the company leverages its global expertise to help communities securely navigate the future of mobility.
He mentioned collaborating with the Emirates Foundation’s SANID team, highlighting its role in enhancing community safety and aligning with the vision of a cleaner and healthier planet. Sbeih expressed appreciation for the ongoing partnership with the Emirates Foundation and acknowledged the commitment of SANID volunteers to fostering a safer and more resilient community.
