Ford Motor Company is all set to extend its Bronco SUV lineup with the launch of the all-new Bronco Electric, tipped to go on global launch soon. The upcoming Ford Bronco Electric is almost identical to its ICE counterparts. Its exterior design looks similar to petrol-powered Bronco and Bronco Sport SUVs that have been on the market for years. As per the available details, Ford can launch an electrified version of the Bronco SUV in pure electric and extended-range electric vehicle options.

Ford Bronco Electric is essentially a joint venture project between Ford and Jiangling Motors. In terms of dimensions, the Ford Bronco New Energy measures 5,025 mm in length, 1,960mm in width, 1,815mm in height, and 2,950mm in wheelbase. The SUV has a curb weight of about 2,630kg, making it comparatively larger than the full-size petrol-powered Ford Bronco.
However, both the ICE and electric versions of the Bronco SUV have the same 2,949mm wheelbase. In terms of design, Bronco New Energy will be similar to its ICE-powered counterparts with some electric vehicle-specific enhancements.
While more specification details are to be revealed in the coming weeks, Ford Bronco New Energy is said to feature an AWD dual-motor powertrain setup with a 177-horsepower electric motor fitted on the front axle and a 275-horsepower motor on the rear, producing a combined power output of 311 horsepower and delivering a top speed of 170 km/h.
Ford Bronco is likely to pack BYD BYD-sourced 105.4kWh LFP blade battery, offering 650 km of CLTC range. Released images of the upcoming Ford Bronco electric showcase that the EV can be equipped with lidar technology for an advanced ADAS suite.
There could also be another powertrain setup in the Ford Bronco New Energy. If we consider the surfaced reports, Ford can also launch the Ford Bronco New Energy with a hybrid powertrain setup, called EREV. It will get the same electric motor in the front as in the pure EV variant, in addition to a smaller 245-horsepower motor on the rear axle. To balance out the performance figures, Ford would provide a 1.5-liter petrol engine capable of delivering 150 horsepower.
With the EREV technology, the petrol engine will only be used as a power generator for the battery or to support the electric motors. Moreover, Bronco EREV will come equipped with a 43.7kWh battery pack, delivering 220 km of pure electric range. However, the combined range of the Bronco New Energy EREV will be about 1,220 km.
Ford's joint venture with Jiangling Motors hints that the Bronco EV will first go on sale in China and then will arrive in select international markets. Since Ford Motor Company already sells a range of Ford vehicles, including the Ford Bronco, in partnership with Al Tayer Motors, it's likely also to launch the Ford Bronco New Energy in the UAE.
