Dubai reaches a milestone of 1270 EV charging stations, which is a great step toward better EV infrastructure and sustainable transportation development. The authorities state that these 1270 EV charging stations will power 40,600 EV vehicles running on Dubai's streets and throughout the whole UAE. As the time electric vehicles start increasing more in Dubai, these charging stations will play an important role in empowering them and leading Dubai toward the reduction in carbon emissions.

Milestone Achieved

DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority) shows a massive increase in the number of EV charging stations from 740 to 1270 by the middle of this year, with a commitment to start operating 1000 EV charging stations that are owned by the DEWA by the end of 2025, excluding the private operators. This will contribute to the development of infrastructure and fulfill the need for the rapidly increasing demand for electric vehicles in Dubai.

What authorities said

"Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the managing director and CEO of the DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority), said that the authority will be working on the launching of a comprehensive licensing policy to attract the private operators to invest in the project, which will help in the development of the infrastructure and make it more aligned with the Dubai Clean Energy 2050 and Zero Carbon Emission strategies 2050.

Action by authorities

According to the most recent data released by the authorities, the charging station network includes fast, ultra-fast, public, and wall box chargers, totaling over 1270 charging stations. Parkin and DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority) have signed an agreement in partnership to install charging stations in prime locations managed by Parkin to improve the user experience.

Conclusion

With the help of all these strategies and steps, the UAE hopes to increase the share of hybrid and electric vehicles by 50% in order to improve the use of electric vehicles and create a leading EV infrastructure.
