Dongfeng has officially revealed the Warrior M817 as one of its intelligent flagship off-road SUVs. The rough and tough Dongfeng SUV is listed on the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's approved production models, hinting at its mass production to commence soon.

Compared to many established off-road SUVs, the all-new Warrior M817 is equipped with a larger design profile, particularly in length. It has a wheelbase of 3,005mm, length of 5,100mm, width of 1,998 mm, and height of 1,899 or 1,919mm. The vehicle's height may change depending on the coil springs or air suspension. The M817 has impressive approach and departure angles of 30-degree and 30 or 25 degrees, respectively.

Under the bonnet is an intelligent multi-mode plug-in hybrid system, which can produce 700 horsepower. The model is claimed to deliver seamless performance in different terrains, including all-electric city driving, low-speed range expending for fuel efficiency, and hybrid for maximum power delivery in an off-road environment.

The Dongfeng Warrior M817 is inspired by military vehicles, sporting a rugged exterior, sharp lines, and imposing on-road presence. It has a distinctive LED light setup, including an illuminated logo and grille lights. The Dongfeng off-road SUV also gets three LiDAR sensors on the roof, backed by Huawei's Qiankun ADA 4.0 intelligent driving system. It also has additional features like lane keep assist and auto braking.

Dongfeng stated that customers can choose factory-fitted extra accessories like top cover trim, headlights, and electric side steps. The vehicle also has towing capabilities and an optional trailer hitch for a better adventure and off-road experience. For more advanced features, the automaker has offered an air spring version, which includes rear-wheel steering, 150mm adjustable air suspension, and a garage mode that lowers the chassis by 45mm.
Dongfeng Warrior M817 is offered in both city and off-road options. The off-road option gets nitrogen shock absorbers, anti-detachment rims, and all-terrain tires. While the body length is longer compared to several full-size SUVs, the M817 comes in a seat configuration.
Industry reports show Dongfeng plans to launch the Warrior M817 in international markets. In the UAE, the demand for Chinese cars has increased in the last couple of years, and considering the trend, the automaker can also launch its all-new Warrior M817 in the market. With the combination of military-grade engineering and top-end hybrid engine technology, the model can become an ideal option for off-road enthusiasts in the UAE.
