The Chrysler 300 is making its last appearance on stage after almost 20 years of existence. Production is expected to end on December 31, 2023. Stellantis confirmed the swan song, indicating the end of the road for this large sedan's high-performance version.
Chrysler debuted a limited-edition 2023 300C model in September of last year. There were only 2,200 of these cars made 2,000 for the US and a pitiful 200 for Canada. The 300C's 6.4-liter V8 engine, which produces a powerful 485 horsepower and 646 nm of torque, sits under the engine bay.
In terms of appearance, the limited Chrysler 300C dazzles thanks to its unique mesh grille, offset tri-color badges that dance, black chrome accents, and 20-inch wheels that give it a more youthful look than its sedan siblings.
The 2023 300C's interior features black leather trim, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, carbon-fiber accents, 300C emblems, a warm heated steering wheel, and a symphonic 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. It is available in Gloss Black, Bright White, and Velvet Red colors. Not to mention the front seats' dual function as heaters and coolers.
In addition to the large V8 engine, Chrysler fitted the sedan with an active exhaust system, limited-slip rear differential, red-painted Brembo four-piston brakes, and calipers. The 300C can accelerate to 60 mph in a quick 4.3 seconds, according to the automaker, and complete the quarter-mile dash in 12.4 seconds.
Now that the 300C has been completed, Chrysler's focus is on finishing up production of the final Chrysler 300 sedans. Customers can still enjoy their options from the Touring, Touring L, and 300S trims even though the limited-edition 300C has made its final appearance.
This tribute to the Chrysler 300's demise corresponds with Dodge's decision to stop producing the Charger and Challenger models. While Dodge has made plans public for an electric version of these muscle cars, Chrysler has not disclosed any information regarding the 300's heir apparent in its reduced lineup.
The Airflow concept is the only electric vehicle that Chrysler has announced for release; however, there are rumors that the production model will not resemble the concept and will drop the Airflow name. Given that SUVs are currently the most popular vehicle among consumers, rumors regarding Chrysler's first electric vehicle have raised the possibility that it will be an SUV of some sort. This has us curious as to what plans the company has for the 300's replacement.
The parent company of Chrysler, Stellantis, decided to discontinue the Chrysler 300 due to a wider strategic change. The Chrysler 300 has come to an end as of December 31, 2023, nearly two decades after it first went into production. This marks the end of an era for the large sedan. This action takes place concurrently with Dodge's decision to end production of the Charger and Challenger models.
Both choices are in line with the industry's general shift toward electric vehicles (EVs), which is a response to changing consumer preferences and environmental awareness. Although Chrysler has not revealed the details of the vehicle that will replace the 300, Dodge has revealed plans for an electric model that will replace its models. As a result, industry observers and enthusiasts are waiting to see what the brand will do next in the increasingly electrified automotive landscape.
