Denza Z Unleashed: 1,582 HP, 350 km/h and a 0–100 km/h Sprint Under 2 Seconds Shake the Supercar World

Denza Z Electric Supercar - 1,582 HP, 350 km/h, and a 2,000 HP Version Is Coming
[Meet the Denza Z, BYD's groundbreaking electric supercar that's redefining EV performance]

The electric supercar race has just taken another dramatic turn. Denza, BYD's premium performance brand, has taken the wraps off a machine that doesn't just challenge Europe's established sports car icons—it aims to rewrite the performance rulebook with numbers that seemed almost impossible just a few years ago.

From a staggering 1,582 horsepower to a blistering sub-two-second sprint and a future version targeting more than 2,000 horsepower, the new Denza Z arrives as one of the most ambitious electric performance cars ever revealed.

Key Highlights

  • Denza unveiled the production-ready Z Coupe and Z Racing at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed as its new flagship electric supercar.
  • The tri-motor all-wheel-drive setup produces 1,582 hp (1,180 kW) and 1,240 Nm of torque.
  • The Z Racing accelerates from 0–100 km/h in just 1.96 seconds and reaches a top speed of around 350 km/h.
  • Denza is developing an even more extreme Special Edition with over 2,000 hp, targeting Nürburgring lap records.
  • Built on BYD's e³ platform, the Z features steer-by-wire, torque vectoring via dual rear motors, carbon-ceramic brakes, and advanced suspension technology.
  • Export models are expected to use a 76 kWh Blade Battery with 1,500 kW Flash Charging, enabling a 10–70% charge in just 5 minutes.

Denza Z Makes Global Debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Denza officially introduced the production-ready Denza Z Coupe and the hardcore Denza Z Racing at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, marking a major milestone for BYD's premium division. Positioned as the company's flagship performance model, the Z family will eventually include three body styles: a fixed-roof Coupe, an open-top Spider, and the track-focused Racing variant.

The UK market will be the first to receive the new model, with prices starting from £142,900, equivalent to approximately $184,800 or AED 679,000. While pricing and launch timing for the UAE and wider GCC remain unconfirmed, the reveal signals Denza's growing ambitions beyond China.

Three Electric Motors Deliver Hypercar-Level Performance

At the heart of the Denza Z sits a sophisticated tri-motor electric drivetrain. A single motor powers the front axle, while two independently controlled motors drive the rear wheels, creating an advanced all-wheel-drive system capable of distributing power with exceptional precision.

Combined, the system generates an astonishing 1,180 kW (1,582 hp / 1,604 PS) and a massive 1,240 Nm of torque.

The standard Coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.25 seconds before reaching a top speed of approximately 299 km/h. Drivers can also activate an Overboost feature that temporarily raises maximum system torque by 30% for up to 20 seconds, providing an extra surge of performance during demanding driving situations.

Extreme Aerodynamics Built for the Track

The Racing variant receives an extensive carbon-fibre aerodynamic package designed to maximize stability at extreme speeds.

Its redesigned body incorporates a prominent rear wing, aggressive front splitter, functional rear diffuser, and an S-duct system that channels airflow through the nose of the vehicle.

According to Denza, these upgrades allow the Racing version to generate as much as 1,060 kg of downforce at maximum speed. The future Special Edition aims to raise that figure beyond 2,000 kg of downforce at 300 km/h, placing it firmly in hypercar territory.

Grand Touring Practicality Meets Advanced Chassis Technology

Unlike many exotic supercars, the standard Denza Z Coupe isn't limited to two occupants. Instead, it adopts a practical 2+2 seating layout, giving owners additional everyday usability without sacrificing its sporting character.

The Coupe measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width and 1,350 mm in height, riding on a 2,780 mm wheelbase. The Racing model stretches to 4,870 mm, thanks to its extended aerodynamic components.

The Z is built on BYD's advanced e³ intelligent vehicle-control platform, introducing steer-by-wire technology that eliminates the traditional mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels. Meanwhile, its independently controlled rear motors continuously adjust torque delivery to sharpen cornering response.

Suspension setups differ according to the model's purpose. The Coupe and Spider feature Denza's DiSus-M magnetorheological suspension paired with air springs for everyday comfort, while the Racing version adopts fixed coil springs to deliver greater consistency during circuit driving. Massive carbon-ceramic brakes with six-piston front calipers complete the high-performance package.

Blade Battery and Five-Minute Flash Charging

Export-spec versions are expected to use a 76 kWh LFP Blade Battery, delivering an estimated WLTP driving range of around 409 km.

One of the biggest highlights is compatibility with BYD's new 1,500 kW Flash Charging system. Under ideal conditions and using supported ultra-fast chargers, the battery can recharge from 10% to 70% in approximately five minutes, while a 10% to 97% charge takes only nine minutes. Although compatible charging stations remain limited, the technology points toward a future where charging stops become dramatically shorter.

Will the Denza Z Launch in the GCC?

The Denza Z would enter an increasingly competitive premium performance segment, taking on established rivals such as the Porsche 911 Turbo, Maserati GranTurismo Folgore, and Mercedes-AMG GT.

Although Denza has yet to confirm sales plans for the UAE or the wider GCC, the brand already has a regional presence through the B5 and B8 plug-in hybrid SUVs, giving it an established sales and aftersales network. Combined with the Middle East's strong demand for exclusive, high-performance vehicles, the region appears to be a natural candidate for the Z's global expansion.

If Denza decides to bring its electric flagship to GCC showrooms, it could become one of the most talked-about supercar launches the region has seen in years. The only question now is whether Middle Eastern buyers will get the chance to experience all 1,582 horsepower—and perhaps even the future 2,000-hp monster—on local roads.
