Citroën has officially shown the production version of the Basalt coupe-SUV before its global launch on August 2.

The exterior design of the new Basalt closely matches the earlier sketches. It includes a rear spoiler, unique C-pillar shape, wrap-around tail lights, and standard door handles. The design is similar to the C3 Aircross, with projector headlights and LED daytime running lights.

The latest images show that the Basalt will be available in red, with other color options yet to be confirmed by the brand.

Unlike some competitors that offer panoramic sunroofs, the Basalt, under the C-Cube program, does not come with this option.

Citroën Basalt

The Citroën Basalt will come with a 1.2-liter PureTech 110 turbo engine, offering around 109 bhp and 205 Nm of torque. This engine aims to balance fuel efficiency and power, making it suitable for both city driving and long trips. It will be available with a six-speed automatic or manual transmission.

The new Citroën SUV will compete strongly against models like the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and Honda Elevate.

Verdict

The Citroën Basalt is set to make a notable entrance with its stylish design, including features like a 10.25-inch infotainment display and a 1.2-liter turbo engine. While it offers a blend of efficiency and performance, it lacks a panoramic sunroof, setting it apart from some competitors. With a strong engine and competitive pricing, the Basalt will rival popular models like the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and Honda Elevate in the SUV market.
