Cadillac, historically renowned for its opulent luxury sedans, found itself losing traction in various markets. However, a significant shift occurred when the brand started producing high-performance vehicles in the early-to-mid 2000s, challenging perceptions and appealing to a younger demographic.
In the realm of high-end vehicles from the American luxury brand, Cadillac, its sports sedans stand out as some of its most exceptional offerings. Among them is the Cadillac CT5-V, the more athletic variant of the standard CT5 sedan, with the Blackwing representing the pinnacle of performance. With the recent unveiling of the 2025 CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing and their confirmed availability in the Middle East, it's an opportune moment to familiarize ourselves with these two automobiles.
John Roth, Vice President of Global Cadillac, commented on the new Cadillac, stating that Cadillac sedans have been instrumental in maintaining positive brand momentum year after year. He highlighted that the previous year marked the best sales for Cadillac sedans since 2018, with the CT5 emerging as the brand's top-selling vehicle worldwide. Roth emphasized the significance of the V-Series option, particularly for customers prioritizing performance and power, as it celebrates a record year.
Although it's a completely new model for 2025, the exterior design of the Cadillac CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing hasn't undergone significant changes compared to their pre-facelift versions. As this is a facelift, the overall shape remains unchanged, with many of the exterior panels and body lines retained from the previous model.
However, upon closer inspection, keen observers will notice several significant changes. The most noticeable alteration on the 2025 CT5-V is evident at the front, where the full-LED headlights sport a completely redesigned, unified appearance. These twin-beam headlights are complemented by a lengthy vertical LED strip and a horizontal LED turn indicator. Additionally, the revamped front bumper showcases a new front splitter and a lower lip spoiler.
Examining the more performance-oriented 2025 CT5-V Blackwing, significant differences are immediately apparent in the front grille, which features a completely distinct design compared to the CT5-V. Moreover, the air dam appears deeper and taller than its counterpart in the CT5-V, accompanied by larger dual air scoops to enhance engine airflow. The CT5-V Blackwing boasts a greater presence of gloss black finishing compared to the CT5-V, lending it a more dynamic appearance. Additionally, its sportier front bumper incorporates deeper side intakes and a more aggressive front splitter.
Among the updates to the facelifted Cadillac CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing are the introduction of new color choices such as Drift Metallic, Deep Space Metallic, and Typhoon Metallic. Additionally, various adjustments have been made to enhance the aerodynamic performance of the sports sedan compared to its previous iteration.
While the interior of the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V has been updated to offer a more modern and advanced feel compared to its pre-facelift counterpart, certain elements remain unchanged. The leather-wrapped steering wheel, with its premium build and button layouts, has been retained. Similarly, some components such as the steering-mounted stalks, center console buttons, and AC-vent design closely resemble those found in previous CT5-V models.
The updated models retain the same center aisle design as the previous CT5-V variants, featuring components like the gear selector, infotainment control dials, and inner door handles. However, notable changes inside the 2025 CT5-V variants include a redesigned dashboard housing widescreen dual displays with a curved design. Additionally, new side AC vents and a wireless charging pad ahead of the gear lever have been introduced.
The front sports seats are engineered to provide both support and comfort for occupants. Cadillac is anticipated to have enhanced various aspects of the CT5-V's interior, promising a more comfortable cabin environment overall. The touchscreen infotainment display will offer customizable user interfaces to cater to driver preferences, and there will be an in-vehicle Performance Data Recorder available. This recorder can monitor various real-time data such as power, torque, boost, g-force, tire temperature, and more.
The 2025 Cadillac CT5-V will retain its 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, delivering 355 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. As for the higher-performance variant, the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing boasts a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, generating an impressive 668 horsepower and 893 Nm of torque.
Both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations are available for the sports sedan, along with the option of a 10-speed automatic transmission. The CT5-V Blackwing offers the additional option of a 6-speed manual transmission.
Braking is provided by advanced Brembo carbon ceramic brakes at the front and rear, while features such as Launch Control, Magnetic Ride Control, and an electronic limited-slip differential are standard on both models. In its highest-performance configuration, the Cadillac CT5-V is expected to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of over 320 km/h.
