BYD, China’s leading automobile manufacturer, has launched four electric commercial cars in the UAE with its local partner Al-Futtaim - now one of its strategic investors. In association with Al-Futtaim, BYD unveiled its four electric commercial vehicles in an event in Dubai held on February 26. These four electric vehicles from BYD include:

BYD ET6: It’s an all-electric truck with a payload capacity of 3.6 tons and is primarily designed to redefine urban logistics with its capable 126kWh blade battery pack.
BYD Light Truck T5: This electric vehicle from BYD boasts a 4-ton payload capacity and gets a 132kWh blade battery pack.
Medium Duty Truck ETH8: This BYD commercial EV has a top payload capacity of 10 tons and comes mated with a 255kWh battery pack for heavy-duty commercial tasks.
BYD B12 Electric Bus: This 12-meter-long city bus has a powerful 425kWh battery with a maximum range of 550 km on a single charge.
In a couple of years, BYD has achieved a significant presence in the UAE commercial vehicle market and is also performing well in the passenger vehicle segment. At this event, the company stated that the launch of these models marks BYD’s greater presence in the commercial vehicle market in the UAE, offering local businesses and public transportation operators modern green mobility options.
Previously, the automaker also announced to raise HK$43.5 billion (US$5.6 billion) in Hong Kong by issuing 129,800,000 new H shares.
BYD also stated that the UAE-based Al Futtaim family office participated in the deal as a strategic investor and further added that BYD and Al Futtaim would further develop a strategic partnership to strengthen the collaboration in the field of NEVs.
