BYD Raises Vehicle Prices by Up to ₱320,000 as EV and Hybrid Demand Continues to Grow

BYD Prices Rise as Demand Surges: Popular EVs and Hybrids Get Costlier in 2026

Key Highlights

  • BYD has increased vehicle prices in the Philippines by up to ₱320,000.
  • The popular Sealion 6 DM-i plug-in hybrid now costs ₱1.598 million.
  • Shark 6 pickup records the largest price increase due to higher excise taxes.
  • Currency fluctuations, tax changes, and global market conditions are driving the adjustments.
  • Despite the hikes, BYD remains one of the fastest-growing EV brands in Southeast Asia.

BYD Buyers Face Higher Prices Across the Lineup

Chinese automotive giant BYD has quietly increased prices across most of its vehicle range in the Philippines, reflecting rising operating costs and strong consumer demand for electric and hybrid vehicles.

The updated pricing affects several of the brand's best-selling models, including the Sealion 6 DM-i, Atto 3, Seagull, eMAX 7, and Shark 6 pickup truck. According to the latest retail pricing, increases range from ₱30,000 on entry-level models to as much as ₱320,000 on premium variants.

Sealion 6 DM-i Continues Its Strong Momentum

One of the most notable changes is the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i. The plug-in hybrid SUV now starts at ₱1.598 million after receiving a ₱50,000 increase.

The model has become a major success for BYD in the Philippines thanks to its ability to combine electric driving with the convenience of a petrol engine, making it particularly attractive for buyers seeking fuel efficiency without range anxiety.

Shark 6 Pickup Hit Hardest

The biggest price revisions have been applied to the BYD Shark 6 DMO pickup.

ModelNew PriceIncrease
Shark 6 Advanced₱2.388 Million₱290,000
Shark 6 Premium₱2.618 Million₱320,000
Sealion 6 DM-i₱1.598 Million₱50,000

The significant increase is largely linked to higher excise taxes imposed on pickup trucks, making the Shark 6 the most affected model in the lineup.

Why Are BYD Prices Increasing?

BYD attributes the adjustments to several market factors, including foreign exchange fluctuations, changing global economic conditions, and revisions to local tax policies.

Automakers worldwide continue to face supply chain challenges, currency volatility, and rising production costs, forcing many manufacturers to revise vehicle pricing despite easing inflation in some regions.

Strong Growth Despite Higher Prices

Even with the latest price hikes, BYD continues to strengthen its position in the EV market. Backed by an expanding dealer network and a diverse range of battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, the brand has emerged as one of the fastest-growing automotive companies in the region.

The latest adjustments suggest that consumer demand for electrified vehicles remains strong, and BYD appears confident that buyers will continue to embrace its growing lineup despite the higher price tags.
