The rear Theatre Screen is not included in the BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase for the Indian market.
Features a 31.3-inch 8K display, automatic dark blinds, and high-quality video streaming.
The Theatre Screen is available on the 5 Series LWB in China.
The feature's exclusion in India is due to challenges in assembly.
BMW has not confirmed when the Theatre Screen might be introduced in India but is exploring options.
BMW has set a new standard for rear-seat luxury with the Theatre Screen in the 7 Series. This feature, which includes a 31.3-inch 8K display that unfolds from the roof with a button, offers an immersive, cinema-like experience for rear passengers.
The Theatre Screen works perfectly with BMW's premium audio systems and offers various media options. However, this feature is not available in the long-wheelbase BMW 5 Series for the Indian market.
Jean-Philippe Parain, Senior VP of BMW Group, said that the challenge of assembling the 5 Series in India led to the exclusion of the panoramic display. However, BMW is not ruling out adding this feature for India in the future. Currently, the panoramic screen is available on the long-wheelbase 5 Series in China, making it the second car globally to have this feature.

BMW's Theatre Screen provides high-quality video with its 8000x2000 pixel resolution. It works with Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound or Harman/Kardon systems and runs on Android. Passengers can enjoy 4K Ultra HD content from apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime, choose different aspect ratios, and also access pre-downloaded content and games.
The Theatre Screen has automatic dark blinds on the rear and sides, which can be adjusted for the best viewing experience and limit outside visibility to reduce motion sickness. This feature is not available in the India-spec 5 Series. BMW has not provided a timeline for adding this feature to the 5 Series LWB in India, but its inclusion could help offset the absence of adjustable rear backrests and attract a lot of interest.
BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase in India does not come with a rear Theatre Screen, which offers a premium in-car entertainment experience. Although this feature is available in other markets like China, BMW has not yet confirmed when it might be introduced in India. The addition of this screen could enhance the appeal of the 5 Series in India by compensating for the absence of adjustable rear backrests and offering a more luxurious rear-seat experience.
