Audi introduced the all-new A5 and S5 models in July 2024, replacing the outgoing A4. These models are expected to arrive in the Middle East by late 2024 or early 2025, with two versions available: the A5 Sedan and A5 Avant. The S5 Sedan and S5 Avant will follow later.

While official UAE pricing isn’t confirmed yet, the starting price in Germany is EUR 45,200 (about AED 180,000). However, the UAE price is expected to be higher. Audi is also undergoing a rebranding effort with these new models.

Audi’s new naming system assigns odd numbers to its internal combustion engine (ICE) cars and even numbers to its electric models. For instance, the 2025 Audi A5 is an ICE vehicle, while the Q8 e-tron is electric. The next generation of the Audi A4 will be fully electric.

Design

2025 Audi A5 & S5 for UAE

The 2025 Audi A5 has a sleek and refined design in its Sedan version and a sporty, modern look in the Avant model. It features a new Singleframe grille with a 3D honeycomb pattern, bold air intakes, and stylish alloy wheels.

Audi's advanced lighting technology shines through with 3D LED headlights, daytime running lights, and OLED taillights that create intricate displays. The full-width LED strip and sporty rear, combined with flared fenders and a rising shoulder line, give the A5 Sedan a powerful yet elegant appearance.

The 2025 Audi A5 Avant stands out with its sloped D-pillars and elongated body, making a strong first impression. Both the Sedan and Avant feature flush door handles for a sleeker appearance. Audi's Avant models have always been sporty and iconic in design, and the new A5 Avant continues that tradition with a more dynamic and refined stance. The S5 versions take it up a notch, adding sportier wheels and more aggressive bumpers for an even bolder look.

Interior

The 2025 Audi A5 has a longer wheelbase, providing more legroom than the previous A4. It also features comfortable seats and an upgraded interior with premium materials and a sleek design. The doors, center console, and dashboard are lined with "Softwrap," a suede-like material that enhances the car's luxury feel.

Audi has extensively used indirect lighting and LED strips to enhance the premium feel of the A5's interior. The sloped roof of the A5 Avant can make the rear seats feel cramped, but the panoramic glass roof adds visual space. The cabin can be optioned with luxurious materials like leather, fabric blends, wood trim, and glossy piano black accents.

Inside, there are three digital displays, including twin panoramic screens for the driver. Audi's design emphasizes "Visible Technology," blending modern tech with an intuitive user interface. However, the button-style gear selector feels less intuitive, though the under-thigh support and slim front air vents are welcome features.

Features

The 2025 Audi A5 offers alloy wheels ranging from 17 to 20 inches, depending on the market. Inside, it features a 14.5-inch MMI touchscreen, an 11.9-inch Virtual Cockpit display, and an optional 10.9-inch screen for the front passenger. There's also a configurable head-up display, Audi Assistant, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, adaptive cruise control, adaptive dampers, wireless smartphone connectivity, and a premium Bang & Olufsen sound system.

The new Audi A5 includes advanced driver assistance systems like blind-spot warning, lane-departure alert and correction, front and rear cross-traffic alerts, emergency brake assist, driver drowsiness detection, park assist, and turn assist. It also has multiple airbags, along with standard safety features such as electronic stability control, traction control, parking sensors, surround-view cameras, and tire-pressure monitoring.

Specifications

The 2025 Audi A5 is built on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) structure and features a 48-volt electrical system called MHEV plus. Most versions, except the base model, are mild hybrids with a small lithium iron phosphate (LiPo) battery and a 24-horsepower generator. This allows the A5 to run in 'EV' mode at low speeds or when parking, helping to save fuel and lower emissions.

The A5 comes with a dual-clutch automatic transmission only. The base model isn’t a hybrid and has front-wheel drive with a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine that delivers 148 hp. There’s also an option for a 201 hp version with Quattro all-wheel drive. The top model, the 2025 Audi S5, features a 3.0-liter V6 TFSI engine that produces 362 hp.

Verdict

The 2025 Audi A5 and S5 bring significant updates and modern features to Audi's lineup, focusing on style, comfort, and advanced technology. With a range of powertrains, including mild hybrids and a powerful V6 option, these models cater to various driving preferences while enhancing fuel efficiency and reducing emissions.

The luxurious interior boasts high-quality materials and cutting-edge tech, making the A5 and S5 appealing choices for those seeking a premium driving experience. As they prepare to hit the market in late 2024 or early 2025, these models are set to solidify Audi's position in the competitive luxury vehicle segment.
