At the 113th Open Auction for Unique Vehicle Number Plates, held by Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai at InterContinental Dubai Festival City Hotel on September 2, a Dubai car number plate was sold for AED 3.82 million, while RTA collectively generated AED 49.789 million. The figures show a staggering 30% growth compared to the last open auction held this year, which collected aggregate proceeds of AED 38.21 million.

The Plate (AA 70) was the most expensive, and it was sold for AED 3.82 million. The Plate (X 7777) was sold for AED 3.08 million, and the Plate (Z 43) was made AED 2.85 million in proceeds. Other premium vehicle number plates also sold for higher prices, including Plate (Y 96), which generated AED 2.66 million, and Plate (S 888), which generated AED 2.3 million in revenue.
RTA issued around 90 fancy plates comprising two, three, four, and five-digit bearing (AA-I-J-K-L-M-N-O-P-Q-R-S-T-U-V-W-X-Y-Z) codes. With such an open or online plate auction system, Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority enables a transparent way to subscribe to premium vehicle number plates. These plates are appealing to passionate customers looking to stand out differently.
