The carmaker has tried to do something unusual in its new Kona. Instead of focusing on a regular car and launching its electric version, the company separately designed and developed it with added features. The change and continuous refinements led to a futuristic design that focused more on the electric aspect of the vehicle, making Kona look robust and fancy.

Key Features of 2024 Electric Kona

  • The new Kona packs exceptionally designed aerodynamics with a drag coefficient of 0.27.
  • The exterior design of Electric Kona looks rudge and sleek, highlighting its EV-focused style.
  • More refined wheel arch armor and parametric surfaces further enhance the design of this Hyundai EV.
  • There is also a Pixelated Seamless Horizon Lamp, graphics, and 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
  • The carmaker has provided active grille shutters to improve the vehicle's aerodynamics.

Dimensions

The new Hyundai Kona measures 2,662 mm in wheelbase, 4,353mm in overall length, 1826 mm in width, and 1580 mm in height. The EV has 724 liters of boot space and 27 liters of front trunk.

Interior

The 2024 Kona EV has a refreshed look to align with its larger properties. It features two 12.3-inch screens, one for infotainment and another for instrument console. Driver controls are available and easily accessible around the steering wheel.

The front seats have a 30% slimmer design and configuration to extend the rear passenger legroom. Hyundai has offered a fully foldable second-row seat and rear compartment, ambient interior lighting, a smart power tailgate, and a two-stage latching system.

Powertrain

The 2024 Kona EV is launched in two powertrain options. The lower-spec variant has a 99kW electric motor and a 48.6kWh battery, producing 133HP power and 255 Nm of peak torque. The base variant offers a maximum range of up to 317 km on a single charge. The high-spec trim is loaded with a 150kW electric motor powered by a 64.8kWh battery pack, producing 201 HP of power and 255 Nm of torque. The high-spec variant can deliver a maximum range of 420 km on a single charge. Both variants of electric Kona can be charged 10-80% in 43 minutes using a 400V DC fast charger.

Additional Features

The leading automaker, Hyundai, has also provided several other features in its new Kona electric. Some major features include the i-PEDAL driving mode to facilitate one-pedal driving. There is also a new charging port door lamp for improving nighttime or low-light visibility.
