Mercedes-Benz jointly owns the electric vehicle brand Smart, which is scheduled to launch in the UAE market shortly. In order to join the nation's electric vehicle market, Smart Car has announced a strategic alliance with AW Rostamani Group (AWR).
In September, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed, and on December 11 in Dubai, a signing ceremony was held to commemorate the partnership. This marks a notable advancement in AWR Group's dedication to propelling the electrification of the automotive industry in the United Arab Emirates.
The goal of the partnership between AWR and Smart Car is to bring Smart's cutting-edge line of all-electric cars to the Emirates. Furthermore, the partnership is a perfect fit with the UAE's futuristic, technologically advanced, and sustainable vision. This calculated action strengthens the position of AWR Group as a driving force behind the area's shift to intelligent urban mobility solutions.
The following models are part of Smart's current global lineup of all-electric vehicles:
It includes both larger cars designed to suit a variety of tastes and smaller, more urban-friendly models. Anticipated to be the first model introduced in the UAE will be Smart #1. It will have a range of more than 400 km on a single charge thanks to a 200kW motor and 66kWh battery pack.
The importance of this partnership for the growth of the Smart Automobile brand in the Middle East market was highlighted by Ms. Mandy Zhang, Vice President of Global Sales, Marketing, and After-Sales.
"This collaboration represents a significant turning point in our growth within the Middle Eastern market," she continued. Within the UAE, AW Rostamani Group has a wealth of operational experience. This, in our opinion, will facilitate Smart's expansion locally and further the brand's worldwide growth.
According to Michel Ayat, CEO of AWR Automotive, "Introducing cutting-edge Smart Car electric vehicles to the UAE is a strategic move that transcends mere market growth; it embodies our vision and commitment to substantially shape a future where sustainability and intelligent mobility are fundamentally intertwined."
In the UAE, the electric revolution is raging, and new EV brands are popping up all the time. The market will soon benefit from new models in the EV segment that offer a wide range of options at various price points. Bravo for taking the initiative, AWR Group.
