Beijing might be 6,000 kilometers from Dubai, but what BMW has just unveiled at Auto China 2026 will shape what you drive on Sheikh Zayed Road in the coming years. The BMW Group has turned its entire stand into a stage for Neue Klasse, its bold new era of electric, digital-first mobility. For UAE enthusiasts, it is a pivotal moment.
Neue Klasse is no longer just a concept name; it now underpins three headline debuts in Beijing: the new BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase, the BMW i3 Long Wheelbase, and a reimagined BMW 7 Series packed with next‑gen tech. Together, they signal BMW's plan to blend long‑range EV performance with immersive digital luxury tailored for demanding drivers in fast‑growing markets.
At Auto China 2026, BMW has dedicated its entire exhibition space to Neue Klasse, positioning it as “the start of a new era” for the brand’s electric and digital roadmap. The stand spans thousands of square metres and showcases more than 40 vehicles, but the spotlight is firmly on the three Neue Klasse-based premieres that anchor BMW’s future line-up. For Middle East buyers, it is a clear statement that the next wave of Bavarian luxury will be EV-led and tech-heavy.
The new BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase and BMW i3 Long Wheelbase are the first Neue Klasse models developed in China for China, built around sixth‑generation eDrive technology with advanced cylindrical battery cells and an 800‑volt architecture. On the CLTC cycle, the iX3 targets a range of more than 900 km, while the i3 is claimed to exceed 1,000 km on a single charge. Fast charging adds up to 400 km of range in around 10 minutes, a figure that will resonate with UAE drivers used to swift intercity runs between emirates.
BMW is using China as an innovation hotspot, not just for hardware but for software-defined vehicle features. Driver assistance and navigation now include "address‑to‑address" guidance tailored to complex Chinese traffic patterns, developed with local tech partners and underpinned by the in‑house BMW Operating System X. Insights from this work are expected to flow into global products, meaning smarter route planning, more intuitive interfaces, and richer over-the-air upgrades for regions like the Gulf in the coming product cycles.
For the UAE, Neue Klasse is highly relevant: BMW already positions the 7 Series as a core luxury player in Dubai, with local pricing around AED 680,000, and the upcoming i3 is listed with an expected starting price of roughly AED 123,000. As BMW plans a major product offensive between 2025 and 2027, with dozens of new models led by Neue Klasse, UAE dealers are likely to tap into this fresh portfolio to meet rising demand for premium EVs and tech-forward limousines.
