The UAE is a place where you can easily spot global car brands, especially in busy Dubai. With so many cars in the market, new brands often struggle to get noticed. But what if the brand is local?
Today, we’ll explore the Rabdan One, a locally made electric SUV designed for the GCC markets, including the Emirates. It’s produced by NWTN Motors, based in Abu Dhabi.
However, NWTN has Chinese roots, and the Rabdan One is essentially a rebadged Voyah Free. Still, it’s exciting to see cars being made in the UAE, giving them a unique appeal. Now, let’s dive into what the Rabdan One has to offer.
The Rabdan One is priced at AED 190,000 in the UAE. While it’s a significant amount, the SUV provides plenty of comfort, solid performance, and stylish design. Plus, you can boast to your friends that it was designed by the renowned Italdesign Giugiaro.
The UAE, like much of the Middle East, isn’t quite ready for pure EVs, though charging stations are increasing. Petrol still dominates, and this is where the Rabdan One fills the gap between traditional cars and future EVs.
Unlike typical plug-in hybrids, the Rabdan One’s petrol engine acts as a generator to extend range, allowing owners to enjoy greener driving without sacrificing the convenience of a PHEV. In a market where petrol cars remain popular, the Rabdan One’s approach seems more practical than going fully electric, at least for now.

The Rabdan One features a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that powers a 33 kWh lithium battery, which drives two electric motors. It has all-wheel drive, produces 684 hp and 1,040 Nm of torque, and can reach a top speed of 200 km/h, making it a powerful option for a two-ton SUV.
With nearly instant torque from dual electric motors, the Rabdan One accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. It has a double-wishbone front suspension and independent multilink rear, along with air suspension for a smooth ride.
While it’s not particularly sporty, it handles well on highways, easily overtaking even after 100 km/h. It can stop from 100 km/h in under 36 meters. The total driving range is 860 kilometers, combining a full fuel tank (56 liters) and a fully charged battery. In pure electric mode, it can cover 85-95 kilometers in real-world conditions.

The Rabdan One is packed with modern features, including 20-inch alloy wheels, adaptive Matrix LED headlights, automatic door handles, a panoramic sunroof, a motion-sensing tailgate, ambient LED lighting, wireless charging, and a cooled glove box.
It also comes with dual-zone automatic climate control, an air-quality sensor and filter, split-folding rear seats, power-adjustable climate-controlled front seats with memory and massage functions, and a 10-speaker Dynaudio sound system.
The Rabdan One offers advanced safety features with Level 2 ADAS, supported by multiple cameras and sensors. These enable adaptive cruise control with Highway and Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Keeping and Following Assist, Front Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Collision Warning, Blind Spot Warning, and Automatic Parking, which handles diagonal, horizontal, and perpendicular parking. It also alerts you if a door is left open or when the vehicle ahead starts moving, useful in stop-and-go traffic.
The Rabdan One's infotainment system supports OTA updates and gesture control, accompanied by two additional screens—a digital driver’s display and a passenger touchscreen. All three screens are aligned together, and the dashboard housing them raises or lowers depending on whether the car is on or off, a feature reminiscent of Audi’s older infotainment systems.

The Rabdan One’s design, borrowed from its Chinese counterpart, is undeniably sleek. Its straight beltline complements the wraparound front and rear, with striking turbine-style 20-inch wheels and a stylish roof adding to its appeal. The rear design shows a noticeable resemblance to the Porsche Cayenne.
The Rabdan One’s interior comes in dark or light shades, with single or dual-tone options. The materials feel high-quality, giving it a premium vibe. The spacious cabin even has an in-car fragrance system, and the 560-liter trunk offers plenty of storage. With so many features, it’s a great car to be in.
The Rabdan One stands out as a well-designed, feature-packed electric SUV tailored for the UAE market. With its premium feel, powerful performance, and modern tech, it bridges the gap between petrol-powered and electric vehicles, offering a practical and stylish solution for today's drivers.
