History

The GAC Group introduced the mid-size crossover SUV, Trumpchi GS8, to the Chinese market in 2016. Additionally, a smaller 5-seater version named the Trumpchi GS7 was also derived from it.

In April 2020, GAC (the parent company of Trumpchi) revealed an updated version of the Trumpchi GS7, rebranded as the Trumpchi GS8S. Subsequently, in 2021, they launched the second generation GS8, featuring expanded dimensions in terms of length, width, and wheelbase compared to its predecessor.
