SUVs were regarded as workhorses in the past, mostly utilized for towing heavy loads and placing little emphasis on interior creature comforts and performance. On the other hand, the whole idea of SUVs has changed in recent years. We will examine how much it has changed in our review of the 2020 BMW X5 M50i.
BMW looked to the M division, a brand that has successfully produced multiple performance versions over the years, for inspiration when developing a performance version of its luxury X5 mid-size SUV. Positioned as the top-of-the-line version in the X5 M lineup, the M50i variant expands the lineup of high-performance models.

BMW's M models are recognized for their aggressive styling and angular lines, which give them a sporty stance. The BMW X5 M50i, despite being an SUV, has a chiseled front end with signature features like the kidney grille and the unique double-barrel LED DRLs.
Moving to the side, it maintains the sport and angular body lines along with big 22-inch alloy wheels. Lastly, the dual exhaust tips on the M50i's rear profile carry on the sporty appearance.

BMW has completely covered the X5 M in leather and brushed aluminum to make it a luxury SUV. It successfully balances the appeal of luxury and sportiness. With features like paddle shifters, a large, chunky steering wheel, and contrast stitching, the balance does, however, lean towards the sporty side. Nevertheless, we would have preferred a steering wheel with a flat bottom design.

The BMW X5 M50i has two 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, which is a good amount of equipment for the money. It also includes the most recent version of BMW's iDrive system, which uses AI to help drivers personalize their vehicles to their tastes.
The BMW X5 M50i is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and has an 8-speed automatic transmission. This drivetrain generates 750 Nm of torque and 523 horsepower. With a maximum speed of 250 km/h, this enables the performance SUV to finish the 0 to 100 km/h run in just 4.1 seconds.
The X5 M50i has M Sport brakes and an M Sport differential because it is a performance SUV from BMW. Additionally, the SUV has an Adaptive M suspension that enables a smooth transition from a sporty, firm ride to a cozy one.
Furthermore, the steering is quick, precise, and has a pleasingly substantial feel. The automatic transmission with eight speeds smoothly enhances its functionality.
The car's braking system is equally amazing; it stops the car calmly and efficiently. The substantial weight of the SUV is noticeable even with a little body roll, providing the driver with a real sense of the vehicle's mass.
Driver assistance features are standard on the BMW X5 M50i, actively keeping its occupants safe in unexpected situations. There are plenty of airbags and other passive safety features included as well.

Performance and luxury have been added to the segment's repertoire with the arrival of SUVs such as the BMW X5 M50i. The X5 M50i will satisfy your need for a family vehicle that can handle regular school runs and still provide you with the rush of a sports vehicle.
