Few automotive brands command the same respect and fascination as Lamborghini. Renowned for its relentless pursuit of power, elegance, and sheer performance, Lamborghini has continually redefined the limits of supercars. The Lamborghini Huracan epitomizes this ethos.

The Huracan stands as one of the world's most sought-after supercars. Since its debut in 2014, it held the title of Lamborghini's best-selling model until 2018, when it was surpassed by the Lamborghini Urus.

Lamborghini Huracan Origins

Lamborghini Huracan

Lamborghini introduced the Gallardo in 2003, a compact mid-engined supercar powered by a 5.0-liter V10 engine. It quickly became Lamborghini's best-selling model, with over 14,000 units sold, retaining that title to this day.

In 2013, Lamborghini ceased production of the Gallardo and introduced its successor, the mid-engined Lamborghini Huracan, later that year.

In 2014, Lamborghini introduced the Huracan, named after the Spanish word for hurricane. The car's inspiration comes from a legendary fighting bull named Huracan, renowned for its ferocity in a battle dating back to 1879.

Lamborghini Huracan Engine & Performance

Lamborghini Huracan

The Lamborghini Huracan is equipped with a potent 5.2-liter V10 engine, delivering power ranging from 572hp to 631hp and torque between 540Nm and 601Nm, depending on the specific model and variant. This engine is mated to a rapid-shifting 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

Lamborghini Huracan Variants

Huracan Coupe (LP 610-4)

The inaugural model of the Huracan, the 610, derived its name from its power output of 610PS, equivalent to 602hp, and the "4" indicated its all-wheel drive configuration. Featuring a 12.3-inch TFT instrumentation, 20-inch wheels, and three drive modes (Strada, Sport, and Corsa), it was manufactured from 2014 to 2019.

Huracan Spyder (LP 610-4)

Lamborghini Huracan

Introduced in 2016, this model was the convertible variant of the LP610-4. While maintaining the same powertrain and interior, the inclusion of a soft-top required chassis reinforcements for added rigidity. Production ceased in 2019.

Huracan Performante

This variant was designed for track performance, featuring aerodynamic enhancements and a tuned-up 5.2-liter V10 engine producing 631hp and 601Nm of torque. Weighing approximately 40kg less than the standard Huracan, it prioritized racetrack performance. Production of the Huracan Performante spanned from 2017 to 2019, while the Huracan Spyder was produced from 2018 to 2019.

Huracan Evo

Lamborghini Huracan

In 2019, Lamborghini introduced a facelift for the Huracan, discontinuing previous naming conventions. The base variant became known as the Huracan Evo, sharing technology and the engine with the Performance variant. Production commenced in 2019 and is scheduled to conclude in 2024.

Huracan Evo Spyder

Production of the Huracan Evo Spyder, featuring the same engine and interior as the Evo, commenced in 2019. However, it adopted an electrically operated soft-top instead of a metal roof. Production of the Evo Spyder is also scheduled to conclude in 2024.

Huracan Evo RWD

To cater to purists seeking a more affordable option, Lamborghini introduced the Huracan Evo RWD, delivering 602hp power to the rear wheels only. Production commenced in 2020 and is anticipated to conclude in 2024.

Huracan STO

Lamborghini Huracan

The Huracan STO, or Super Trofeo Omologata, is essentially a road-legal racecar derived from the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo. Boasting a bold and aggressive design, it packs a 631hp 5.2-litre V10 engine, exclusively powering the rear wheels akin to its racing counterpart. Production began in 2021 and is slated to cease in 2024.

Huracan Tecnica

The Huracan Tecnica offers a middle ground between the Evo and the track-focused STO, catering to enthusiasts seeking a more aggressive driving experience. While sharing the same engine and rear-wheel-drive setup as the STO, its suspension and dynamics lean towards road performance. Production commenced in 2022 and is scheduled to conclude in 2024.

Huracan Sterrato

The Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato is for those who fantasize about taking a supercar off-road. It is a proper off-road supercar. Lamborghini increased the ground clearance by 47mm and improved the approach angle by 1% and the departure angle by 6.5%. It gets off-road tyres and wider fender flares.

The End Of An Era

As production of the Lamborghini Huracan draws to a close in 2024, it signifies the conclusion of a remarkable era for this legendary supercar. With its iconic sound and breathtaking performance, the Huracan leaves an enduring legacy in the world of automobiles, securing its place in history.

Looking To The Future: A New Dawn

As the curtain falls on the Huracan's journey, a new era dawns with the imminent arrival of a Lamborghini featuring a turbo-hybrid powertrain, ushering in a fresh wave of automotive advancement and thrill. While bidding adieu to the Huracan, its essence will endure, shaping the identity of its successor.

Brand-new Lamborghini Huracans are priced from AED 1.2 million to AED 1.7 million, varying based on the chosen variant and model.

Verdict

As the Lamborghini Huracan concludes its production in 2024, it leaves behind a legacy of unmatched performance and exhilarating driving experiences. With its departure, a new chapter in Lamborghini's history begins, marked by the anticipation of a turbo-hybrid successor.
