Dubai is rapidly strengthening its position as one of the Middle East’s leading electric vehicle hubs. At the centre of this transformation is the DEWA EV Green Charger network, which now offers more than 740 charging points across the emirate, making EV ownership more practical and convenient than ever before.
As more UAE residents switch to electric vehicles from brands such as Tesla, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, BYD, Zeekr, Lucid, and Polestar, reliable charging infrastructure has become a key factor in driving adoption. The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) continues to expand its public charging ecosystem, ensuring drivers can travel confidently across the city without worrying about range limitations.
What started as a pilot initiative has evolved into one of the region’s largest public EV charging networks. Today, DEWA charging stations can be found at government facilities, shopping malls, residential communities, business districts, parks, hotels, and major transport hubs.
The network supports both UAE residents and international visitors, helping Dubai advance its sustainability goals while encouraging cleaner transportation options.
Using a DEWA charger is straightforward. Drivers can locate nearby charging stations through the DEWA Smart App, charging maps, or their vehicle's navigation system. After connecting the charging cable, users can activate a charging session through the DEWA app, QR code, or EV Green Charger card.
The platform also allows drivers to monitor charging progress, energy consumption, billing history, and payment information in real time.
DEWA offers several charger types designed to suit different driving needs.
| Charger Type | Output |
|---|---|
| AC Wall-Box Charger | Up to 22 kW |
| Fast Charger | Up to 50 kW DC |
| Ultra-Fast Charger | Up to 150 kW DC |
Charging costs remain significantly lower than traditional fuel expenses for most drivers.
| Charging Type | Estimated Cost |
|---|---|
| AC Charging | AED 0.70/kWh + VAT |
| DC Charging | AED 1.20/kWh + VAT |
For daily commuters and high-mileage drivers, these lower operating costs continue to be one of the biggest advantages of EV ownership.
The DEWA EV Green Charger network serves a wide range of users, including private vehicle owners, corporate fleets, delivery operators, and visitors. Tourists can even use Guest Mode without creating a permanent account, making EV travel in Dubai more accessible.

With EV sales continuing to rise across the UAE, DEWA is actively expanding its infrastructure through partnerships with private-sector charging operators and smart mobility initiatives. The goal is clear: create a seamless charging experience that supports Dubai’s long-term sustainability vision.
The DEWA EV Green Charger network has transformed electric vehicle ownership from a niche lifestyle choice into a practical everyday solution. With over 740 charging points already available and further expansion planned, Dubai is proving that the future of mobility is not just electric—it is already here.
