Following the release of the record-setting 300+, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport debuted in June 2021. It's a slightly toned-down, more comfort-focused version. However, being a Bugatti, the Chiron Super Sport is far from slow.
Packed with impressive stats, it’s easy to forget that it’s still a luxury car. Unlike many new supercars with electric assistance, the Chiron Super Sport relies solely on its powerful W16 engine. Needless to say, this isn’t the car for those who prioritize being eco-friendly.
Optimized aerodynamics
The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport features more streamlined bodywork compared to the Chiron. This includes a redesigned front splitter, larger air intakes, special air curtains, and an extended rear for improved high-speed stability.
It also has a lower and wider rear with a revised diffuser to reduce drag, nine-hole air exhausts above the front fenders, and new vertically aligned quad tailpipes. The Chiron Super Sport also boasts lightweight Y-spoke aluminum alloy wheels, which look fantastic.
Higher-output powerplant, lower curb weight
The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport weighs approximately 1,973 kilograms, which is about 23 kilograms lighter than the standard Chiron. Bugatti has also enhanced the 8.0-liter W16 engine, increasing its power by 100 hp to a total of 1,578 hp and 1,600 Nm of torque. Notably, this torque is available between 2,000 and 7,000 rpm, making the engine very responsive and powerful.
The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport has larger quad turbochargers compared to the standard Chiron, and its 7-speed dual-clutch transmission has been improved. A taller seventh gear allows for a higher top speed and faster gear shifts. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 2.4 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 5.8 seconds.
There are four driving modes: EB, Handling, Autobahn, and Top Speed. The car's Y-spoke wheels are fitted with high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires designed for higher speeds. The Chiron Super Sport has an electronically limited top speed of 440 km/h, which is over 120 meters per second.
Pressing the brake pedal in the two-ton Chiron Super Sport activates its large rear spoiler and engages the 420mm front and 400mm rear brakes. The permanent all-wheel drive system provides a lot of mechanical grip, with electronic aids helping to keep you on the road.
For car enthusiasts, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport has few real-world rivals. Its performance is impressive but impractical for public roads, except on the autobahn. Unlike some newer supercars, the Chiron Super Sport's exhaust note is unique and unaltered.
Bugatti engineers have improved the Chiron Super Sport's handling in corners. The electronically-controlled chassis features stiffer springs and dampers compared to the regular Chiron, along with a tighter steering ratio. This leads to flatter, more composed cornering and a quicker, sharper response to steering inputs.
The interior of the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport feels luxurious and well-crafted, as expected. You won't find any cheap materials here; everything is made from carbon fiber, aluminum, or leather. There are no flashy digital screens that might look outdated in the future—elegance and class are the main focus.
The cabin of the Chiron Super Sport is neat and luxurious, with a minimalist design and exceptional attention to detail, providing a highly satisfying driving experience. It stays quiet at low speeds on smooth roads, but the W16 engine becomes noticeable when the quad turbos engage. There is some road noise from the large wheels, but it won't bother its affluent owners.
All Bugatti Chiron Super Sport models have already been sold. This review isn't about buying one new; it's about imagining what it's like to drive this 1,600-horsepower luxury hypercar at incredible speeds, perhaps on a racetrack.
When it was available a few years ago in the UAE, it cost well over 20 million dirhams! If you could afford it, you were likely royalty or in high-profile business. The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport will be remembered as a timeless legend, cherished for its exceptional performance and luxury for years to come.
The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, now sold out, epitomizes automotive excellence with its unmatched power and luxury. Priced over 20 million dirhams in its time, it symbolized exclusivity and was reserved for the elite. Its legacy as one of the greatest hypercars ever made is secure, celebrated for its extraordinary performance and timeless design. Even though few could afford it, the Chiron Super Sport will continue to be revered and remembered fondly in the annals of automotive history.
